First date for 2009 – NOTE: 4th Sunday
December 31, 2008
The first jam of 2009 will not be on the usual 2nd Sunday but the 4th i.e. Sunday 25th January. This is a temporary arrangement.
The last session of 2008 was a great success – well attended by players and listeners, so hopefully 2009 should be a good year for the jazz jam!
Also note, I have moved the start time back to 6:30pm.
Next date
November 9, 2008
The next date has been organised for December 14th – last one before Christmas. The second session had a very low turn out – I hope I can start to get more of you down because it’s a great venue and would be a shame to lose it.

First Session at new venue + change to earlier time
October 13, 2008
We had a modest turn out yesterday but a very nice evening was had by all. Everyone commented on what a good venue it is and the atmosphere was good. I’m looking forward to future jams – please note: next one November 9th.
A few people have commented on the Sunday evening session not being a great time for them, so I have arranged to start it earlier at 6pm. I hope this will encourage more of you down.
New Venue for the Jam
September 5, 2008
After a few months break I have found a new venue to hold a jam session – this time in Wokingham. It’s a nice, big family-type pub so I think it will be a very good place to host it. The other advantage is that it has a large car park so no worries there.
We will be holding the jams on Sundays once a month and the first will be on 12th October. The house band will play from 8pm and the jam from around 9pm.
I hope everyone can come and support this new venue and keep the jam going.

Lol Coxhill playing next Sat at Rising Sun
June 15, 2008
The Rising Sun now has a fully maintained and tuned
baby grand piano. In fact, they have Lol Coxhill playing next Sat. (21st
June). He’s going to be playing Jazz standards with Alex Hawkins on Piano
and Dom Lash on Bass.
Next Date Organised – Wednesday 2nd July
June 12, 2008
July’s Jam will be on Wednesday the 2nd – and it marks a significant moment in the very short life so far of the Reading Jazz Jam: Wessli (the Wellington Arms) who has been a great supporter of the whole project is moving on so I may well be looking for a new venue from August.
Any suggestions?
Last Minute Announcment of next date
June 6, 2008
We now have a new date for the next jam – Wednesday 11th June (next week). There is still no Sky sport in the pub so no clashes!
New Jam Session in Windsor
May 17, 2008
The first new jam session will be going ahead:
Wednesday 28th May 8pm
The Old Ticket Hall, Windsor (map)
Thankyou to everyone for their support, and I hope to see you there. Could any drummers that intend to come email me direct (not via the mailing list) so we can organise the drumkit.

the songwriter), 1 x lead guitar, 1 x bass, 1 x drums, 1 x percussion /
conga, 1 x female backing singer.
Been practising together for nearly a year Just started gigging Hoping to
get more regular gigs from this point on – in area ie berkshire / reading,
hopefully some London small venues later on in year.
Majority have been in bands before.
Ages – late 20’s – 40 (except for our baby drummer!) Musical style – retro
piano based indie (prob best way to describe) Influences – in a nutshell,
Stevie Wonder, Polyphonic Spree, Belle & Sebastien, White Stripes No covers
New songs being put together all the time.
Just started recording process for a 3 track demo (free through a friend
with studio) Practice every Tuesday eve at No Machine in Wokingham, plus
other jams at houses when we’re all free
Doing it for love not money!
Looking for…..
Horn section! A Trumpeter a definite (or more, if there were any?) a bonus
would be Sax and Trombone too?! But all brass players for modern bands seem
quite hard to come by!?
There are horn sections already arranged for all songs to date pretty much,
10 – 15 which we practice. But always open for input / interpretation etc
Any sex / age welcome as long as they like the music, want to play with a
fun bunch of people?! Music not technically too challenging though it can be
whatever you make it
Hope that is enough info for you? Should be – cant think of anything else!

There’s a potential new jam session venue at The Old Ticket Hall, a
pub in Windsor. We need to gauge interest before this can be
arranged, so could anyone who would be keen to attend email me at
js102@zepler.net. Thanks, James Shaw.
